Description
Family of 4 is in search for a wonderful live-in or live-out Family Assistant “FA” in Oakland, CA to start at the end of August 2021. The children are 2 and 4 years old. We are looking for a very flexible, career FA who ideally has experience in household management, cooking and personal assistant duties.
The FA’s weekday schedule is 6:30am-11am and then again from 2:30pm-6pm M-F. This is broken into two shifts while the children are at school. The FA should be able to work a 50-hour workweek and occasional Saturday mornings as needed with advanced notice. Although this is a childcare position, the FA will spend the majority (75%) of his/her time doing non-childcare related duties so that the parents are able to spend more quality time with their children. There will only be about 25% childcare and the parents will not expect the FA to multitask in doing other duties when caring for the children.
If the FA wants to live-in, he/she will have his/her own private room and bathroom with a separate private entrance. This is not a full private apartment so the FA will have to use the family’s kitchen to cook and laundry room etc.
Duties include but are not limited to the following:
- Light housekeeping (mostly keeping kitchen clean)
- Childcare, homework help
- Personal Assistant duties for parents
- Cooking for family
- Laundry for family
- Running errands
- Driving children
- Scheduling for family
- Grocery shopping
Ideal candidates would be those who have been a professional Family Assistant, Nanny, Personal Assistant or Household Manager and who speak Arabic. Formal training or experience as a cook is a bonus but these are not required. However, the FA must have a good driving record and the family will be providing a vehicle for him/her for on-duty use. We are looking for mature, reliable candidates with previous long-term tenure in a similar position with excellent references. Currently our search is for local candidates in the Oakland area but we are open to exceptional out-of-state candidates.
Most importantly the FA must have a good and positive attitude with a strong work ethic. The FA should be able to follow directions well and be a reliable help and team player with the housekeeper and parents. Over time the FA should not need to be told what to do but be able to anticipate his/her responsibilities independently once familiar with the duties and the family’s needs. The family is looking for someone who will be like a member of their family for many years.
