Description
Professional executive couple with four children ages 5-15 and a new puppy is in need of a wonderful, long-term, live-out household and nanny manager (HNM) in their primary location in Brooklyn, NY. Flexibility to travel with the family and do overnights with the children when the parents are away may be requested and will be mutually agreed upon in advance. During the summer, the HNM may be asked to relocate with the family for 8-10 weeks, work remotely for the family, and/or be given the option of taking up to 6 weeks unpaid time off.
The HNM’s work schedule is full-time Monday-Friday with occasional weekends if the couple is entertaining. Hours are TBD. Flexibility to stay later or come in earlier when needed is essential. Summer schedule is also TBD each year.
HNM’s qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Previous executive assistant experience is a plus but not required.
- Family office experience is a plus but not required.
- Computer savvy and experience with Google Suite and other similar applications.
- Superb calendar, travel, and administrative management skills.
- Experience with juggling and fulfilling a dynamic workload with lots of moving parts.
- When the workload is lighter, adept at finding ways to add value.
- Working calmly but efficiently under pressure.
- Eager to learn and grow, often on the fly and on-the-job.
- Adaptable as the family’s needs evolve as the kids grow and involvements change.
- Able and willing to carry and move heavy objects such as boxes, furniture/furnishings as needed; must be able to lift up to 25lbs; capable of physical aspects of the work.
- Must always act with discretion, tact, composure, and in ways that maintain/enhance the family’s reputations and relationships. Fits into the family’s down-to-earth culture.
- Comfortable and capable of driving and parallel parking in Brooklyn, NY (in the family's minivan).
- Live in close proximity to the family's residence in Prospect Heights/Park Slope, Brooklyn with flexibility to work outside of normal hours, often at short notice; flexibility to travel with family.
- Valid United States passport. Global Entry a plus.
- CPR Certification or willingness to become certified.
- Vaccinations (e.g. MMR, TDap, Flu shot).
The ideal candidate is a natural caregiver and communicator. She should work well as a team player with the other household and family staff. We are looking for HNM’s who have a minimum of 5+ years of professional experience, a strong work ethic, long-term tenure with previous families, a positive attitude and great communication skills. Since this is a long-term position, we are looking for someone who can commit to this position for many years.
Duties include but are not limited to the following:
- Running a smooth and organized household
- Managing children (schedule, homework and activities)
- Managing supplies (restocking, purchasing etc.)
- Create a household manual for family
- Assist other household staff as needed
- Creative, doing fun & interesting things with intelligent kids and knowledgeable about child development
Being part of the puppy-care team is also very important! Applicants must love dogs and ideally have experience with training and caring for puppies.
One of the most important qualities in the HNM is that they have a great attitude with a strong work ethic. The HNM is responsible for creating an environment of hard work, trust and respect as her role as the main contact between the parents and the children.
