Description
New York based family of five is currently in search for a mature, long-term, family assistant (FA) to start ASAP. The main responsibility of the FA revolves around the care of children, ages 5, 8 and 11 while working as a team player with the parents. It's important that the FA is energetic and creates a healthy and fun relationship with the children.
The ideal candidate is a career nanny or family assistant who would like to transition into the family’s household manager once the children are more independent. We are hoping to find a great match for this family who will be with them for many years. Unlike most childcare related positions, this one will not need to end once the children outgrow the need for a caregiver!
Other duties include, but are not limited to the following:
- All childcare related duties
- Cooking for the children
- Teaching, tutoring & supervision of school work
- Driving family vehicle (must have a great driving record)
- Taking children to school
- Running errands
- Light housekeeping
- Scheduling the children’s activities, schoolwork, appointments etc.
- Keeping up CPR/First Aid certifications
- Pet care for family’s hypoallergenic dog
- Family’s laundry
Qualifications and characteristics in the FA include the following:
- Trustworthy and able to maintain the utmost confidentiality
- Active and patient with the children
- Positive, team-oriented attitude
- Alert, Fast and sharp, with an ability to handle potential security risks swiftly
- Organized, self-starter
- Punctual and Reliable
- Proactive in household duties
- Competent and also likable, fun to be around for the whole family
- Ability to participate in family adventures/outings, meaning able to keep a very active, busy schedule and having physical endurance
- Limiting personal use of cell phone while on the job
- Childhood Education or college degree is ideal
- Open communicator
While we are looking for local candidates, the family may be open to non-local candidates who are willing to relocate for this position and find their own housing with the family's help.
