Description
Family of five is in search for an experienced Family Assistant/Household Manager ASAP. The couple has two girls age 8 and 12 and one boy age 11. Although there is very minimal childcare (5-10%), the EH should know that the 11-year old boy has severe, non-diagnosed, mental and emotional issues. However, the EH will never be expected to watch all three children alone as the mother is able to be her son’s main caregiver when he is not in school. The majority of the EH's time will be spent cleaning and managing the home. All three children are in school full-time and the parent’s schedules are flexible for the right person as long as she can commit to at least 40/hours a week.
Flexibility is essential for this position. There will be some occasions the EH may need to come in as early as 6 or 7am if the father is traveling and the mom needs help. The children attend different schools so the EH will need to have a clean driving record and insurance since that will be part of her duties. However, the parents will always give plenty of notice if they need something outside of the EH's regular schedule and will also provide the EH with a vehicle for on-duty use. There will also be times (1-2/month) where the EH will need to be able to stay and help as late as 9pm. Most of the time the EH will be able to be done around 7/7:30pm.
One of the most important qualities in an EH is someone who is emotionally strong and can remain calm when there is a highly stressful situation. This position is perfect for someone who is very confident in her ability to keep her emotions stable and remain calm to be a help to the mother if/when she is having difficulties with her son. Most of the time there aren't any issues, but the best person for this role is someone who isn't affected when there are issues. The EH will never be left alone with all 3 children. She's needed after school to help mom manage their schedules and after-school activities etc.
The main duties and responsibilities of the Executive Housekeeper are as follows:
Managing the weekly housekeeper's deep cleaning
Daily cleaning, tidying and organizing
Cooking for the children
Meal prep for the family
Laundress and ironing duties
Running errands
Grocery shopping
Driving children to school/activities
Organizing (areas in the home that need it)
Stocking fridge and household supplies
Manage home contractors/vendors
Helping the parents in any way they need
Candidates must be hard-working, self-starters that do not need to be told what to do once they’re familiar with the home and the family’s needs and preferences. The EH must pay attention to detail and be able to follow instructions. As long as the EH has a great attitude and can learn from both positive and negative feedback, things should go very well. The ideal candidate will be like a member of the family over time as this is a long-term position.
