Houseman
A Houseman is responsible for general household maintenance and supporting the housekeepers. They perform tasks such as minor repairs, replacing hard to reach light bulbs and assisting with heavy lifting and deep cleaning. The Houseman works with the Executive Housekeeper under the Household Manager, coordinating and working alongside the housekeepers and ensuring the property is well maintained. This role requires handyman and technical skills as well as the ability to collaborate effectively with other household staff.
Additionally, a Houseman can take on various other roles within the household as needed. While the term “Houseman” describes a specific set of duties, the position is not limited to these tasks. Flexibility and adaptability are key, as the Houseman may be called upon to assist with different household needs beyond the primary job description as with every private service professional.
Driver (Chauffeur)
A Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient transportation of the Principal, family members and guests. Duties include maintaining vehicle cleanliness, performing vehicle maintenance and keeping insurance and registration up to date. The driver also runs errands and may assist in purchasing vehicles. Personal drivers should have a clean record; experience driving high-profile individuals, security training and knowledge of the local area.
In addition to driving, a personal driver can assume other roles within the household. Although the term “Driver” primarily describes transportation duties, this position is not confined to these responsibilities. Drivers may be asked to assist with various household tasks, providing additional support wherever needed to ensure smooth and efficient household operations.
