Description

Experienced HM/EH with long-term tenure with previous employer is needed for a family to start ASAP. The candidate must have excellent references and be available to interview immediately and start by December 2017. This is a long-term position for local candidates who are very familiar with Portland and the surrounding areas. Part of the position is concierge-type services so the candidate will need to research and plan activities for the principal and guests when in residence.

Other duties and responsibilities required, but not limited to the following:

Fiscal Responsibilities

Managing household budget
Accounts payable
Reconciling credit card
Petty cash log
Expense reports

Household Management

All housekeeping duties
Establish relationships with security and family home office staff, local neighbors, vendors etc.
Sourcing the best vendors such as handymen, housekeepers, landscapers etc.
Creating a household manual with Estate Manager
Create and organize a directory of local vendors
Create and organize a directory of hospitals, emergency rooms, police etc.
Manage household renovations
Supervise any household repairs and maintenance
Liaise with contractors, interior designers, party planners, caterers for special events etc.
Maintaining open and clear communication with Estate Manager and Executive Assistant
Assist with packing, unpacking, laundry and organizing
Create a household inventory manual and checklist
Assist with cooking and cleaning when needed
Household mechanical skills (AV systems, landscape irrigation and lighting controls, mechanical room etc.)
Create an appliance inventory and care manual
Upkeep of computers, Internet, fire extinguishers, emergency/safety equipment
Knowledge of operating a smart home

The ideal candidate will have a great can-do positive attitude and be able to be flexible to the principal's needs. Having good social skills and the ability to work as a team player is a must. The candidate should also have a broad knowledge of household items and their care. When the family or guests are in residence, the candidate must be flexible to work more days or hours as needed. The most important thing is that the person is a self starter, organized, hard-working/hands-on and trustworthy.
