Professional couple is in need of an experienced and energetic male House Manager/Valet to start ASAP. The HM would manage a 13,700 sq ft house as well as the other household staff and would need to be capable and experienced in a fast-paced environment. Organization and flexibility is a must. The HM's daily schedule is 2pm-10pm and most weekends with two days off during the week. This is a long-term position that the HM will grow into. He needs to be a fast learner, hard worker and smart.
This position is ideal for those who thrive and enjoy the challenge of working in a fast paced environment. The couple's daily schedules are run on Microsoft Office so it's mandatory that the EM be very skilled and familiar with MO and have excellent verbal and written skills. Spanish speaking is a plus but not mandatory. In addition to having experience as an HM, one of the most important skills is a positive, upbeat and pleasant attitude as well as the ability to work as a team member with the other household staff. The HM needs to be an example to the other household staff by setting a high standard of excellence and hard work with a great attitude. The Principal's standards are quite high since they work so hard, they expect the same from their staff. No job is beneath the House Manager or any other household staff member.
The ideal candidate will have previous professional experience as a butler, valet, cook, server, caterer, bartender and/or personal assistant. Certifications or training from Butler or Household Management schools are a plus! We are essentially looking for a Gentleman's Gentleman who is comfortable enough in the kitchen to prepare and serve simple horderves or on occasion a meal in the evenings when the chef has left. He will work evening hours and cater to the needs of the Mr. and Mrs as well as any evening houseguests. The HM should be able to do his job well under the radar by not drawing attention to himself and giving the Principal space and room to work and relax but be available when needed. Since this is a live-out position, the HM will need to reside in Houston and have the ability to travel when needed.
This is a very hands-on and physical position so candidates must be in excellent health. Essential job responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Coordination of household and servicing of principals and guests
- Engagement and supervision of outside contractors, service providers and suppliers
- Write household manuals and policy documents for principals’ approval
- Manage household projects
- Creating, maintaining and implementing schedules for monthly, seasonal, bi-annual and annual maintenance for the interior of the estate and addressing all maintenance issues immediately and appropriately to ensure smooth operations
- Overall security and communication systems and record keeping
- Regular interaction with principals to maintain direct communication and compliance within their needs
- Encourage and maintain efficiency, harmony, and morale throughout the household
- Assist in organization and orchestration of social and family events
- Reception of guests
- Catalog of wines
- Maintain inventory of fine silver, china, antiques, and other household and estate items
- Arranging appointments for personal and professional needs
- Completing any other requested administrative tasks
- Enforcing the dress code and purchasing uniforms
- Hold daily meetings with employees
- Valet service (packing/unpacking, loading luggage, laundry service when traveling for the Mr.)
- Butler service (serving evening beverages and snacks, turn down service)
- Security service when traveling
- Cooking and serving food as needed
Other Responsibilities:
- Flexible to travel when needed
- Coordination of schedules among staff
- Driving/chauffeuring the principals as need
