We are working with a very nice couple that just relocated to Austin from California. The busy executive couple is in need of a wonderful, long-term, live-out household manager (HM) and executive personal assistant (EPA). The couple’s children are grown but they have a Boston Terrier so ideal candidates should love dogs and be willing to help with walks and petting sitting when the couple goes out of town.
The HM/EPA’s work schedule is full-time Monday-Friday with occasional weekends if the couple is entertaining. Hours are M-F 9am-5pm. Flexibility to stay later or come in earlier when needed is essential.
The ideal candidate is well organized, smart and a great communicator. We are looking for HM/EPA’s who have a minimum of 5+ years of professional experience, a strong work ethic, long-term tenure with previous families/employers and a positive attitude.. Since this is a long-term position, we are looking for someone who can commit to this position for many years.
HM/EPA qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (ideal)
- Previous executive assistant experience is a plus but not required.
- Family office experience is a plus but not required.
- Computer savvy and experience with researching and purchasing.
- Experience in event planning.
- Superb calendar, travel, and administrative management skills.
- Experience with juggling and fulfilling a dynamic workload with lots of moving parts.
- When the workload is lighter, adept at finding ways to add value.
- Working calmly but efficiently under pressure.
- Eager to learn and grow, often on the fly and on-the-job.
- Able and willing to carry and move heavy objects such as boxes, furniture/furnishings as needed; must be able to lift up to 50lbs; capable of physical aspects of the work.
- Must always act with discretion, tact, composure, and in ways that maintain/enhance the family’s reputations and relationships. Comfortable and capable of driving and parallel parking in Brooklyn, NY (in the family's minivan).
- CPR Certification or willingness to become certified.
- Available to housesit and pet sit when the couple travels.
- Must be COVID-19 vaccinated or willing to be vaccinated.
Duties include but are not limited to the following:
- Running a smooth and organized household
- Managing couple’s schedule, calendar and commitments.
- Managing supplies (restocking, purchasing etc.)
- Create a household manual for family
- Assist other household staff and couple as needed
- Light housekeeping (putting away dishes from dishwasher etc.)
- Running errands (HM/EPA’s vehicle)
One of the most important qualities in the HM/EPA is that they have a great attitude with a strong work ethic and not have to be told what to do. Part of the job description is being proactive and anticipating the needs of the couple over time. The HM/EPA needs to be able to respond professionally to both positive and potentially negative feedback while keeping open and honest communication.
