Collocated retired couple is in search for a long-term, live-in Household Manager/Cook (HMC) to start on May 2, 2022. The mature couple reside in Santa Fe, NM in an 4,000 sq. ft. home for most of the year and have a second home in Palm Beach, FL where they live during the winter months. We are looking for honest, dedicated and personable HMC's who enjoy working with older Principals. The right candidates should enjoy cooking and can successfully run a smooth, clean and organized household. This couple is requiring that the candidates be COVID-19 vaccinated.
The HMC’s schedule is TBD with the flexibility to work weekends or evenings on occasion. A vehicle will be provided for the HMC to use for work related use. Ideal candidates will be bilingual (English/Spanish) but it’s not required. We are looking for mature candidates who will get along well with the couple’s Caregiver and who can work as a team player making sure the couple’s best interest is always her/his first priority.
Other duties include but are not limited to the following:
- Create an up-to-date household manual for the couple’s homes
- Manage and oversee all daily housekeeping and deep cleaning projects
- Daily light housekeeping duties
- Financial household management, budgeting and bookkeeping (about 20% of the job)
- Coordinate, manage and be present for household services - cleaners, appliance repairs, deliveries, contractors, etc.
- Ensure all household mechanical and electrical systems are in good working order (i.e. HVAC, security system, cable, and wireless network, etc.)
- Schedule and supervise repairs and maintenance as needed and oversee outside professionals such as electricians and plumbers in the home
- Oversee all projects scheduled at the home and coordinate and manage subcontractors
- Coordinate and oversee seasonal contractors - lawn, landscaping, deep cleaning etc.
- Manage the maintenance of all vehicles; schedule routine service and manage appointments
- Seasonal decorating, gift wrapping and managing presents and delivery
- Assist with flowers, birthdays, vacations, travel etc.
- Run errands as needed
- Grocery shopping and cooking
- Other projects and duties as assigned
- Managing supplies (restocking, purchasing etc.)
We are looking for energetic, hard-working candidates who love creating a warm and peaceful environment. Ideal candidates will learn how to take initiative, use their time wisely and learn the couple’s likes and dislikes over time. One of the most important qualities is someone who the couple can trust and depend on long-term. The HMC should have great communication and time management skills to make sure everyone is always on the same page.
The HMC will have a private 1500 sq. ft. casita near the couple’s home in Santa Fe and a private room at their condo in Palm Beach. This is a year-round live-in position that requires the candidate’s full commitment. Unfortunately this would not be an ideal position for someone who has pets, young children or any major commitments that would not allow them to travel or live-in both cities. The couple will provide a vehicle to the HMC for work related use and to drive them to locations as needed so we are looking for candidates who have excellent driving records.
